At least three people are dead, and the suspected gunman is in custody after a shooting at a Target store in Austin, Texas<\/a>, on Monday.<\/p>\n Austin Police Department<\/a> Chief Lisa Davis said during a press conference that police responded to reports of a shooting at about 2:15 p.m., and when they arrived, they found three people who were shot in the store’s parking lot.<\/p>\n The suspect, who Davies said was about 32 years old, had already fled the scene after stealing a victim’s car from the parking lot.<\/p>\n The chief said the suspect wrecked the vehicle before taking a Volkswagen from a car dealership.<\/p>\n 3 SHOT IN TIMES SQUARE, 17-YEAR-OLD SUSPECT DETAINED AFTER LATE-NIGHT DISPUTE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n He was later found by Austin police in South Austin where he was taken into custody after “a tasing,” Davies added.<\/p>\n The chief noted that the subject had gotten out of the vehicle in South Austin when someone called and alerted police.<\/p>\n “We have three people that are deceased. This is a very sad day for Austin,” the chief said. “It\u2019s a very bad day for us all, and my condolences go out to the families.”<\/p>\n A preliminary investigation found the suspect has a history of mental health issues, the chief said.\u00a0<\/p>\n SHOOTING AT NEVADA CASINO RESORT LEAVES MULTIPLE PEOPLE INJURED; SUSPECT IN CUSTODY<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Davies told reporters the suspect has a rap sheet as well as emergency detention holds.<\/p>\n Robert Luckritz, the chief of Austin-Travis County EMS, said when his crews arrived at the scene, they found three victims<\/a>, two of whom were pronounced dead at the scene. The third victim was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.<\/p>\n A fourth victim was also treated at the scene, though for non-related injuries.<\/p>\n
